Cimicifuga simplex ‘White Pearl’
Autumn Bugbane |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 1.153.070
(=Actaea matsumurae) A spectacular plant for the back of a shady border, sometimes flowering into November. Tall wands of fragrant, creamy white bottlebrush flowers are held high above light green, lacy foliage. Splendid for cutting! Bugbanes prefer a moist, rich soil, away from hungry tree roots. Will tolerate full sun in cool summer regions, otherwise be sure to protect from hot afternoon sun. Also performs well in tubs or mixed containers. Plants take about three years to develop into a mature sized clump. May be divided in spring, but plants take a year or two to establish again.
