Disporum flavens
Yellow Fairy Bells |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.192.050
Fairy Bells is native to Korea but relatively unknown in North America. It emerges much like Solomon’s Seal in early to mid-spring with stiff arching stalks bearing apple-green leaves. Once they reach their ultimate height, within days spectacular lemon-yellow flowers emerge along the stems and last for a couple of weeks. Foliage remains attractive and well behaved after flowering. Black berries appear in late summer. Forms dense clumps over time and is long-lived. An easy to grow moist woodland garden gem. Considered by some as the star of the genus Disporum.
