Dracocephalum peregrinum ‘Blue Dragon’
Dragonhead |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.196.330
This long-blooming plant is ideal for the front of a sunny border, the rock garden or in containers. It forms a bushy tuft or mound of narrow blue-green leaves, bearing spikes of fat, tubular violet-blue flowers from early summer onwards. Prefers average to moist sites. Said to be long lived and fairly carefree. Easily divided in early spring. Introduced by Jelitto Seeds in 2004, selected from plants growing in the Altai Mountains of Russia. Quite possibly hardy to Zone 5 or colder. The similarly-named selection Dracocephalum ruyschianum ‘Blue Dragon’ is an entirely different plant.
