Edraianthus graminifolius

Blue Grassy Bells

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.197.900

A Bellflower relative, this is a rock garden plant also suitable for growing on the top of a wall or in an alpine trough. It forms a low tuft or mound of narrow grassy-looking leaves, with short prostrate stems that bear clusters or balls of violet-blue bells in early summer. The effect is charming, like a mound of grass surrounded by a ring of flowers. Prefers superior drainage, so a gritty soil or gravel scree is ideal. A good candidate for growing in rock crevices. Prefers a limestone-based soil. Native to Eastern Europe. Also known as Rock Bells.
