Gentiana septemfida var. lagodechiana ‘Select’
Summer Gentian |
USDA Zone: 2-9 |
Plant number: 1.225.070
The Summer Gentian is one of the easiest types for average garden conditions. It form a low, trailing mound of deep green, with cobalt-blue trumpet flowers appearing among the leaves in mid to late summer. While not as showy as the fall blooming types, these are much easier to grow. Nice in the rock garden, for edging or cascading from a wall. Also suitable for growing in alpine troughs or mixed containers. Plants are easily divided in early spring. In hot summer climates this performs best with afternoon shade. Received a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (1993).
