Helleborus × sternii Blackthorn Strain

Hybrid Lenten Rose

USDA Zone: 6-9

Plant number: 1.256.850

This excellent hybrid strain forms clumps of deeply-cut grey-green foliage with exotic bold veining and marbling. In early spring, upright purple stems hold sprays of small nodding green flowers, flushed with pink. Performs best in regions with a mild maritime climate. Gardeners in colder climates would be wise to mulch around the base of the clump with leaves in very late fall. Plants should be trimmed only right after blooming, if at all. Plants prefer some direct sun with protection from afternoon heat. Evergreen. CAUTION: Harmful if eaten/Skin irritant.
