Knautia macedonica ‘Mars Midget’
Dwarf Crimson Scabious |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.299.130
A compact selection of this summer-long bloomer. It forms a low mound of grey-green leaves, bearing small ruby-red button flowers that open in succession over several months. Terrific for edging the sunny border, also great in containers or the rock garden. Attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established. Plants may be short-lived but will generally self seed if the mother plant fails to come back. This is one of the few truly red perennials that flowers for most of the season. Looks particularly good with silver leaved companions.
