Lavatera cachemiriana
Kashmir Mallow |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 1.316.060
The hardiest of the perennial Mallows, this forms a large bush of slightly fuzzy ivy shaped leaves. Medium-sized single funnel-shaped flowers are produced from midsummer through fall in a clear pink shade. Terrific for the sunny border or in large tubs. Stems die to the ground in winter, so prune back hard in early spring. Has been known to survive in Zone 2 and 3 gardens with protection although references often list this hardy to only Zone 6 or higher. Plants will sometimes self sow in abundance.
