Lysimachia clethroides
Gooseneck Loosestrife |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 1.340.020
Gooseneck Loosestrife produces unique spikes of white flowers that are bent like a goose’s neck, appearing in late summer. Wonderful for cutting. Plants quickly spread to form a wide patch, so allow it room. Has a tendency to take over in a perennial border: place this carefully. Excellent at the waterside or in a moist location. Foliage develops good red fall colour, particularly when grown in full sun. Clumps are easily divided in the spring. New growth is late to emerge from the ground, often waiting until well into May. Attractive to butterflies. Gooseneck Loosestrife should not be confused with the noxious weed Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria).
