Saxifraga cotyledon
Pyramidal Saxifrage |
USDA Zone: 3-9 |
Plant number: 1.475.100
One of many Saxifrage selections, this is a low alpine plant, forming rosettes of evergreen leaves a little like Hen-and-Chicks. Tall, arching sprays of tiny white flowers appear in summer. Best in a partly-shaded rock garden, especially happy when growing in crevices between rocks. Planting this at the top of a rock wall will allow the flower sprays to arch over and show to their best advantage. Nice also in trough or container gardens. Clumps may be divided in early spring. Plants must have good drainage, but the roots prefer the coolness that rocks will provide.
