Teucrium hircanicum
Iranian Wood Sage |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.510.150
This species of Germander or Wood Sage looks more like a Speedwell in appearance, with tapering spikes of deep pink to magenta-purple blooms forming in mid to late summer, over a lush mound of fragrant green leaves. In hot regions this is best with a bit of afternoon shade. Flowers attract butterflies and are excellent for cutting. Plants may be divided in spring if desired. Quite possibly hardy to Zone 5 or colder.
