Thymus serpyllum ‘Elfin’ True UK clone

True Elfin Thyme

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.515.160

A very slow-growing selection of Thyme, this is the true form of ‘Elfin’ from the United Kingdom. If makes a very tight bun-shaped hummock or cushion of tiny dark-green leaves, studded with little soft-mauve flowers in early summer. Perfect in an alpine trough or rock garden. This is a plant that demands to be touched because it looks so unusual. We first saw this while visiting a nursery in Wales, and realized that it differed from the clone of ‘Elfin’ being widely grown here in North America. Plants are slower growing with more of a humped or cushion shape and the flowers are sparse. Evergreen.
