Carex flacca
Blue Creeping Sedge |
USDA Zone: 4-9 |
Plant number: 8.090.300
(=Carex glauca) Although not a well-known species, this is a versatile and carefree groundcover that tolerates a wide range of conditions. Plants form a low, creeping mound of narrow blue-green, grassy looking leaves. Short spikes of flowers are insignificant. Nice for edging, in the rock garden or containers. May be mown or clipped in early spring to tidy up any brown leaf tips. Clumps are easily divided in spring or early fall. Evergreen in most regions. Very drought tolerant once established. Sometimes called Carnation Grass.
