PerennialHeritage Perennial Profile

Here's the complete description for this Heritage Perennial. Drop in any time to see the rest of our collection.

 Plant Number: 1.108.150USDA Zone: 4 - 9
Calamintha nepeta ssp. nepeta
Common name :  Dwarf Calamint
Calamints are close cousins to the garden mint, but without the nasty spreading habit. This selection forms a perfect mound of mint-scented leaves, absolutely smothered by small, very pale lilac flowers from midsummer until frost. Highly rated as an edging or rock garden plant with an extremely long season of interest. A good choice also for mixed containers. Clumps may be easily divided in early spring. In regions with humid summers this sometimes benefits from a hard clip back in August, to rejuvenate the leaves. Tolerates both dry and moist soils. Attractive to butterflies.

What others say about this plant...
An imperturbable little plant with a long flowering season, and of delicious minty odour when crushed. The tiny thyme-like flowers are beloved by bees and are borne in such profusion that they make good effect.; Graham Stuart Thomas, Perennial Garden Plants
