Ajuga reptans ‘Mini Crisp Red’

Miniature Carpet Bugle

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.030.400

This well-behaved form of Bugleweed forms a tight, slow-spreading carpet of crisped and congested bronzy-red leaves, the whole effect creating quite an unusual display. Its slow habit of growth makes it suitable for use in rock gardens, or as a border edging and especially in alpine trough gardens and other containers. Squat spikes of blue flowers appear in spring. Plants seem to grow best under part shade conditions. Easily divided in spring or early fall. Prefers an evenly moist soil. Near-black winter colour. Sometimes goes by the name Ajuga pyramidalis ‘Metallica Crispa’, though several different plants masquerade under this name.
