Excellent as an edging plant in moist shady areas, perhaps as a companion to Hostas or ferns. Also nice in mixed containers. Plants are sturdy and long-lived, remaining evergreen in mild winter regions. Clumps may be divided in spring, but each division should be fairly large in size for best results.
