Butterfly Gaura |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.224.170
(='SME-2') This compact selection has both attractive foliage and flowers. It forms a bushy mound of leaves, edged red in spring then later becoming solid green. Wands of small silky blooms appear for months on end, in a lovely combination of soft-pink and white. Excellent in containers or along the front to middle of a sunny border. Needs good drainage. Bred and introduced by Steve Eggleton of New Zealand. USPP#17293: unlicensed propagation prohibited. Registered with COPF. Note that botanists have recently reclassified and named this species Oenothera lindheimeri. Here at Heritage Perennials, we'll continue to list it under it’s more commonly familiar Latin name for now.
