Lathyrus aureus
Golden Perennial Sweet Pea |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.312.010
Seldom seen in gardens, this is a hardy perennial cousin to the familiar annual Sweet Pea. It forms a bushy clump of light-green lacy leaves, with spikes of golden-orange pea flowers appearing in early summer. Non climbing, this is best suited to the perennial border. Plants resent being disturbed once established. An interesting cut flower. Plants are not often produced commercially because the seed is erratic to germinate.
