Phlomis fruticosa
Jerusalem Sage |
USDA Zone: 5-10 |
Plant number: 1.409.050
Jerusalem Sage is widely used in California, but deserve to be grown more in colder regions. Plants form a shrubby mound of woolly silver-grey leaves, bearing spikes of butter-yellow flowers arranged in tiers or layers. Woody and evergreen in Zones 8 to 9, this will likely die back and restart from the ground in colder climates. Plants require excellent drainage, particularly in areas with hot muggy summers or wet winters. Plants may be pruned back hard in early spring when needed. Nice for cutting. Drought tolerant once established.
