Phlox pulchra

Mountain Phlox

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.410.950

The Mountain or Smooth Phlox is native to the Appalachian Mountains. Plants form a bushy upright clump of fresh green leaves, topped in early summer by clusters of fragrant lilac-blue flowers. This is one of the best Phlox selections for hot, humid summer climate areas. Combines beautifully with silver leaved perennials, such as Artemisia ‘Valerie Finnis'. Useful for massing in the border, and also worth trying in mixed containers or tubs. Prefers a sunny location or light shade. Clip plants back hard after blooming, to rejuvenate the leaves. Easily divided in early fall.
