Ranunculus gramineus
Grassy-leaved Buttercup |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.451.350
A charming and little-known Buttercup species, this grows well in a moist rock garden or perennial border. It forms a low tuft or mound of grassy-looking blue-green leaves. Taller stems appear in late spring, bearing rounded lemon-yellow flowers. Plants generally go dormant and disappear by mid to late summer, then produce new leaves in the autumn. Clumps are easily divided in the autumn or early spring. May well prove to be hardy in Zone 4 or colder. Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit winner (1993).
