Carex siderosticha ‘Banana Boat’
Broad-leaved Sedge |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 8.090.550
Broad-leaved Sedge is one of the most useful edging plants for shady gardens where adds brightness to the darkest corner. This Japanese selection forms a low clump of wide, grassy looking ‘banana’ yellow leaves with narrow green edges and streaks. The appearance is similar to a dwarf Hosta. Greenish flowers appear in spring but are fairly insignificant. Versatile in the garden, also stunning in mixed containers. Prefers a soil that remains evenly moist. Clumps can be divided in early spring just as the growth shoots begin to appear. Foliage dies back over the winter.
