A native to Himalaya, India and Ceylon, this beauty forms a clump of deep green leaves in spring. Masses of white, large, saucer-shaped flowers on red stems follow soon after. The flowers feature violet-blue anthers, backs and streaking. Also offers fall interest with spiky green seed heads. Must have cool, moist humus-rich soil. Wonderful when planted in drifts. Deadhead, as necessary to encourage future growth. Ingestion may cause mild stomach upset.
