Stachys minima
Dwarf Betony |
USDA Zone: 5-9 |
Plant number: 1.495.230
Very rarely encountered in gardens, this charming low species first forms a ground-hugging rosette of large and crinkly leaves. In early summer it bears upright stems that hold chubby spikes of magenta-purple flowers. A nice addition to the rock garden, containers, edging the border or planting on a rock wall. Average soils and regular moisture will keep it thriving. May self seed where happy, or easily divided in spring.
