Stachys monieri

Alpine Betony

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.495.240

A cousin to the familiar Lamb's-Ears, but not at all similar. This is a clump-forming perennial, forming a low mound of crispy green foliage. Upright spikes of deep-pink flowers appear towards midsummer. Removing faded flowers will encourage more buds to form. An interesting and unusual perennial for near the front of the border or in containers. Plants may be clipped back hard immediately after blooming, to tidy up the clumps for the rest of the season. Easily divided in early spring. Foliage may stay evergreen in mild winter regions.
