Mountain Phlox |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.410.250
This is a selection of a North American wildflower, native to the west coast. Plants form a low mat of evergreen foliage, with a cheery springtime display of star-like flowers, pale pink with a darker stripe down the middle of each petal. Although tolerant of summer drought, this prefers an acidic soil with plenty of peat or compost worked in. Ideal for the rock garden, or used as a groundcover over a small area. Also suited to growing in a trough garden or alpine scree. Prefers regions with cool summers. Clumps may be divided in early spring.
